FINDLAY – St. John’s Jesuit shot a team score of 328 to edge runner-up Northview by two strokes Thursday in the Division I boys district golf tournament played at Red Hawk Run Golf Course.
Leading the Titans was junior Patrick Yost, who tied for fifth individually with a 77. St. John’s other scores came from seniors Jack Spengler (80), Brodie Kajfasz (82) and Spencer Hood (89).
Northview, which won a fifth-player tie-breaker with Norwalk after the teams tied for second at 330, was paced by senior individual runner-up Jack Kunkel, who shot 75. The Wildcats’ other scorers were senior Andy Riggs (83), junior Connor McCann (85) and sophomore Adam Czerniakowski (87). Senior Mark Spieldenner’s 92 was the tie-breaking score that sent Northview to the state tournament Oct. 20-21 at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course.
Individual medal honors went to Bowling Green senior Jack Hanus with a 74.
Rounding out the top 10 individuals were Max Watson (75) of Ashland, Ryan Fries (76) of Southview, Palmer Yenrick of Clay and Yost (both 77), Braden Nunez of Norwalk and Isaac Elsasser of Bowling Green (both 78), Will Lammers (79) of Defiance, and Spengler (80).
Hanus and Watson qualified as individuals to the state tourney.
