Toledo's Cody Thompson (25) makes a catch during the first quarter of the team's season opener vs. Elon. BLADE/KATIE RAUSCH
University of Toledo senior wide receiver Cody Thompson is widely considered one of the best receivers in the country. So far this season, his statistics have proved that.
He ranks in the top 25 nationally in receptions per game (21st with 6.8 per game), receiving yards per game (8th with 126.3 per game), receiving yards (4th with 505 yards), and receiving TDs (11th with 4 TDs).
Thompson leads Mid-American Conference receivers in receptions (27) and receiving yards and is second in yards per reception (18.4 yards).
Thompson has always been a big-play threat and especially so with current quarterback Logan Woodside. Last season, Thompson was ninth nationally with a yards per reception average of 19.83. This year his average is down a bit to 18.4 yards per catch, which ranks 48th nationally.
As the top target in UT’s up-tempo offense, Thompson will look to continue his stellar season by terrorizing Mid-American Conference opponents with his combination of speed and athleticism.
