Central Catholic received a challenge for almost three quarters Friday from host Clay before pulling away for a 41-10 Three Rivers Athletic Conference football victory.

TONTOGANY — Every Thursday, junior quarterback Mitchell Downs and the Otsego Knights practice the 2-minute offense. In Friday’s 35-32 Northern Buckeye Conference home victory against undefeated Genoa, the rehearsal paid off.
Facing a 32-27 deficit with under two minutes to play, Downs led the game-winning touchdown drive, which was capped by his 8-yard score. This was just a few moments after Genoa’s Noah Edwards — who leads the NBC in total touchdowns — plunged into the end zone on what was the go-ahead score.
But Downs, who finished the game with four rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown, brought the Knights (4-1, 2-0 NBC) back up the field and scored on his own. At one point, he completed a 7-yard pass to extend the drive on fourth down and later converted a two-point conversion. FULL STORY
