BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University football program added linebacker Roland Walder to the roster.
Walder, a transfer from the University of Kentucky who redshirted last season, took part in his first practice with the Falcons on Friday. He will have to sit out the 2017 season per NCAA rules, but he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Dayton native was ranked by the web site 247Sports as the No. 29 inside linebacker in the recruiting class of 2016 as well as the No. 32 prospect overall in Ohio.
Walder played in high school at Trotwood-Madison, where he was named Southwest Ohio Division III defensive player of the year and All-Ohio first team after finishing with 62 tackles and seven sacks as a senior.
He helped the Rams advance to at least the state semifinals in his three seasons as a starter.
