Walleye acquire forward in trade with Utah

The Walleye have acquired forward Austen Brassard from Utah Monday in exchange for future considerations.

Brassard, a 6-foot-2 and 207-pound forward, appeared in 39 games last year for the Grizzlies. He posted 29 points with nine goals and 20 assists, and had 45 penalty minutes.

Brassard, 24, also played in 20 games in the AHL with San Diego, and had a pair of goals and two assists.

The native of Windsor, Ont., spent the last three years playing in the AHL. He posted career highs in goals (15) and assists (21) in 75 games with Manitoba in the 2015-16 season.

In 199 AHL contests, Brassard has 26 goals, 37 assists, and 147 penalty minutes.

Brassard was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL draft.

Toledo opens the season on the road Oct. 13 at Quad City. The home opener is Oct. 21 against Quad City.

The organization is conducting its two annual camps this week. The youth summer camp began Monday and runs through Friday for players between the ages of 7 and 13. The Free Agent Camp will be Saturday and Sunday.
