Gibson, who qualified for the state track meet in the 400 meters as a junior, won the 100, 200 and 400 at the City League championship last week. She also anchored the winning 800 relay for Start.

Gibson’s performance helped her share the meet’s outstanding runner award with Bowsher’s Megan Burmeister.

“She’s a very strong athlete,” Start head coach Ric Turner said. “She puts a lot of work in and is very demanding of herself, which is hard to teach someone of her age. She’s a quiet leader who handles her business and makes her team better.”

Gibson has now claimed three consecutive titles at the CL championship in the 400, and she helped her team win the CL title as a junior.

Academically, Gibson was honored April 26 at the All-City/‚ÄčAll-Academic banquet for compiling a 3.87 grade-point average, which ranks her 15th in her class.
