Sabrina Kerschner, Anthony Wayne
The junior shortstop is hitting .545 (18 for 33) with seven doubles, three triples, one home run, 10 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases to help Anthony Wayne get off to a 10-0 start this season, including a 3-0 record in Northern Lakes League play.
“She’s that player who helps make us the team that we are,” Anthony Wayne coach Ron Myers said. “She’s our sparkplug. She’s small in stature, but she hits for power. She slaps. She drags. She has incredible speed, and a strong arm defensively.”
As the team’s leadoff batter, Kerschner hit .525 with eight doubles, 11 RBIs, and 19 steals as a sophomore to earn first-team All-NLL and first-team All-District recognition. She led her team to a 19-5 record and an appearance in the regional tournament.
A three-year starter, she is committed to play softball at Kent State University. “Her knowledge of the game is incredible,” Myers said.
