Anthony Wayne's Evan Brown helped the Generals to a regional final last year. THE BLADE
Evan Brown, Anthony Wayne
A senior center fielder, Brown is in his fourth season on the Generals’ varsity baseball team and is a two-time All-Northern Lakes League selection.
He is hitting .430 with 10 RBIs for Anthony Wayne (10-2, 2-1 NLL), which was the preseason favorite to win the NLL title. The Generals reached a Division I regional final last year, when Brown batted .343 and had 18 stolen bases to earn All-District honors.
In November, Brown signed to play baseball next year at Bowling Green State University.
“Evan’s got the tools,” Generals baseball coach Mark Nell said. “He’s got power, and he can run. His throwing has improved throughout his career, and he’s got a lot of athletic ability. He’s got a good attitude, he’s a good student, and he’s a good kid.”
A two-sport standout, Brown also led Anthony Wayne in a surprise run to a Division II state semifinal in football in November, the best playoff run in school history.
Brown rushed for 1,608 yards and had 19 touchdowns. Brown was named the NLL’s football player of the year and was selected first team All-District and All-Ohio at running back in D-II.
