With a 9-4 home victory against Wauseon on Tuesday, Perrysburg’s Dave Hall, in his 32nd season, became the 15th high school baseball coach in Ohio to reach 600 career wins.
“I’m just thankful for all my assistant coaches and the players through the years who believe in our program,” Hall said. “I still love coaching. It doesn’t seem like I’ve ben the head coach here since 1986.”
Hall (600-312) has guided the Yellow Jackets to 11 Northern Lakes League championships, including the last four in a row. He has also led Perrysburg to two Division I state final-four appearances. The 2003 Jackets lost in the state semifinals, and the 2011 team was state runner-up.
Hall joins three area coaches among state’s all-time wins leaders.
Rich Arbinger of Start (1976-2009) ranks fifth at 759-214. Tom Held — a coach at Elmwood, Bryan, and Defiance — ranks 12th at 679-147 in his 30th year. Don Kober of St. Francis de Sales (1974-2006) ranks 13th at 660-251.
Carson Vrzal got the win Tuesday. Tyson Kleinfelter went 2 for 2 with an RBI.
