Notre Dame Academy falls in title game

Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame defeated Toledo Notre Dame Academy, 54-44, in the Division I girls state championship game at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

Bre Hampton-Bey led Notre Dame Academy, which was seeking its first girls hoops state title, with 22 points. Mariah Copeland added 12. The Eagles held an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 24-22 at halftime.

The trip to the state tournament was the fifth for Notre Dame Academy in the last 6 seasons.

Julia Hoefling scored 18 points to lead  Mount Notre Dame.
