Roundup: Panthers prevail at Lima Senior

WHITMER 77, LIMA SENIOR 74

LIMA — Derrick Rayford made a driving layup with five seconds left to give Whitmer a 75-74 lead, then hit two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to seal the Panthers’ boys basketball win on Friday night in Three Rivers Athletic Conference play.

Nick Witcher led Whitmer (15-6,  9-4 TRAC) with 26 points, Avion Franklin added 21, and Rayford 16.

Jarius Ward scored 34 to pace Lima Senior (14-7, 9-5).

ST. JOHN'S 54, FINDLAY 48

FINDLAY — Harrison Riggs tallied 15 points and Vincent Williams, Jr., added 14 as St. John’s (19-2, 12-1 TRAC) won on the road.

Kyle Nunn scored 22 to lead Findlay (14-7, 8-5), while Ryan Roth had 11.

FREMONT ROSS 53, CLAY 41

Maliek Johnson scored 18 points and Brandon Trolio added 16 as Fremont Ross (6-15, 2-11 TRAC) used a 19-8 edge in the fourth quarter to earn a win in Oregon.

Josh Kiss paced Clay (1-20, 0-14) with 11 points.

WAITE 70, SCOTT 58

Carl Banks poured in 31 points to lead Waite to a City League road win, believed to be the Indians’ first at Scott since 1970.

Mohammed Elmajzoub, Keyshawn Leach, and Ronnie Sanders added 11 points each for the Indians (13-7, 5-5 CL).

Genesis Warich paced Scott (2-18, 1-9) with 17 points, Eugene Towbridge added 15, and Michael Mitchell had 14.

PERRYSBURG 71, MAUMEE 45

Matt Gruden led the way for Perrysburg (14-2, 11-2 Northern Lakes League) with 19 points, Zach Pohlman added 12, and Nick Stanford and Seth Morgan scored 12.

Maumee’s James Braithwaite paced the Panthers (6-14, 4-9) with 19 points.

NAPOLEON 66, BOWLING GREEN 54

BOWLING GREEN — The Wildcats stormed back after trailing by eight at halftime, led by Brett Lauf’s 21 points.

Preston Morman scored 18 and Isaac Elsasser poured in 16 to pace Bowling Green.

ANTHONY WAYNE 71, SPRINGFIELD 37

Troy Schalitz scored 17 on his senior night for Anthony Wayne (14-6, 10-2 NLL). Andrew Murphy also put up 14.

Springfield (2-19, 1-12) was led by Dae’vien Arnold who scored 12 points.

WOODMORE 49, FOSTORIA 42

ELMORE — Mitchell Miller scored 12 points and Derek Wank 10 as the Wildcats (7-13, 5-8 Northern Buckeye Conference) won at home.

Aneas Cousin and Jayden Stanton both scored 12 for Fostoria (4-15, 2-11).

EASTWOOD 76, LAKE 35

PEMBERVILLE — The host Eagles put up 25 first-half points and never looked back. Cade Boos scored 15 points and Tyler Haas and Logan Frobose added 10 points each for Eastwood (17-3, 11-2 NBC).

Lake (6-15, 3-10) was led by Jordan Bekier who scored 10.

ELMWOOD 46, OTSEGO 28

BLOOMDALE — Tayte Lentz scored 12 points to lead Elmwood (12-8, 7-6 NBC) to a home win.

Will Varner paced Otsego (11-10, 6-7) with 13 points.

MONTPELIER 91, EDON 51

EDON — Montpelier junior Kolden Uribes scored his 1,000th point and broke the single-game school record with 41 points as the Locomotives (12-8) won at Edon.

He made three 3-pointers and 14 from the free-throw line as the leading scorer.

EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 62, DANBURY 56

Jailon Walker scored 21 points and snagged 16 rebounds to lead Emmanuel Christian. Johrdan Coleman scored 11 and Gary Black added 12 for Emmanuel Christian (3-16, 2-10 TAAC).

Brad Pruitt paced Danbury (5-14, 3-10) with 19 points.

CARDINAL STRITCH 43, GIBSONBURG 28

GIBSONBURG — Joey Holifield scored 16 points to lead the visiting Cardinals (16-4, 10-3 TAAC), who dominated the third quarter 18-2.

Gibsonburg (9-12, 6-7) was led by Josh Ernsthausen who scored 11 points.

MAUMEE VALLEY 66, OTTAWA HILLS 61

Zeb Jackson scored 19 points and Jaiden Woodley 17 as the host Hawks (13-7, 8-5 TAAC) won in overtime.

James Silk and Peter Roman both scored 17 to lead the Green Bears (12-7, 8-5). Tyson Chappell added 12.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 79, NORTHWOOD 53

Joel Gleason scored 16 points, Landon McGill 15, Delano Smith 12, and Owen Gast 11 for the visiting Eagles (15-4, 13-0 TAAC).

Gabe LaPlante and Evan LaPlante both scored 12 for the Rangers (1-19, 1-11).

SWANTON 64, LIBERTY CENTER 46

SWANTON — Gunnar Oakes scored 36 for the host Bulldogs (9-11, 3-3 NWOAL). Duyane Goings added 12.

Blake Graber led Liberty Center (9-11, 3-3) with 15. Christian Chambers had 13.

BRYAN 62, PATRICK HENRY 54

HAMLER — Colt Arthur made five 3-pointers and scored 26 points to lead Bryan to a road victory. Evan Smith also scored 13 for the Golden Bears (12-8, 4-2 NWOAL).

Patrick Henry (7-12, 1-5) was led by Alex VanDeBussche who scored 23 points and Xavier Wensink who had 11.

WAUSEON 53, EVERGREEN 20

METAMORA — The Indians (19-1, 6-0 NWOAL) outrebounded Evergreen 19-3 in the first half to earn the road win. Austin Rotroff led Wauseon with 12 points.

Chandler Lumbrezer led Evergreen (9-12, 2-4) with five.

OAK HARBOR 69, PORT CLINTON 60

OAK HARBOR — The Rockets had seven players with at least seven points in their win. Matt Harris scored 14, Jac Alexander pitched in with 12, and Isaiah Jefferson scored 10 to lead Oak Harbor (6-14).

Port Clinton (3-17) had Dean Colston with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists and Joey Brenner who had 17 points and 16 rebounds.

LIBERTY-BENTON 67, PANDORA-GILBOA 63

FINDLAY — Anthony Masterlasco scored 24 points and Austin May 22 as the Eagles (17-3, 10-0 Blanchard Valley Conference) won at home.

Drew Johnson scored 25 to lead the Rockets (13-6, 7-3). Riley Larcom added 19 and Jared Breece 11.

NEW RIEGEL 53, FOSTORIA ST. WENDELIN 43

FOSTORIA — Shane Halcomb scored 16 points and Brandon Arbogast added 13 for visiting New Riegel (12-7).

Cyle Smith paced Fostoria St. Wendelin (5-15) with 18.

WHITEFORD 44, MORENCI 32

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. — The Bobcats outscored Morenci 27-16 in the second and third quarters to set up a showdown with first-place Sand Creek on Tuesday.

Hunter Lake and Thomas Eitniear 11 for Whiteford (15-2, 9-1 Tri-County). Harley McCaskey had 15 points for visiting Morenci (7-8, 4-5).

Girls

BEDFORD 49, MONROE 23

TEMPERANCE — The Mules (9-9, 5-4) won behind Madisyn King’s 20 points, and Lynsey Spotts added 10.

For the Trojans (3-15, 2-7), Kylah Stuntmier led with six.

CARDINAL STRITCH 62, NORTHWOOD 43

The Cardinals won the Toledo Area Athletic Conference outright on Thursday.

Jami Hardy scored 22 and her sister Courteney Hardy added 19 to lead Cardinal Stritch (17-5, 12-2 TAAC).

Northwood (5-17, 3-11) was led by Allison Roach, who made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points.
