Boys roundup: Rayford’s layup lifts Whitmer

St. John's rolls over Central Catholic

WHITMER 57, FINDLAY 55

FINDLAY — Derrick Rayford hit a driving layup with two seconds left to lift the Whitmer boys basketball team to a dramatic Three Rivers Athletic Conference road win on Friday night.

Nick Witcher led Whitmer (9-4, 5-2 TRAC) with 14 points, Leon Hughes and Avion Franklin had 13 each, and Rayford finished with 10.

Kyle Nunn paced Findlay (8-5, 4-3) with 16 points, Drew Hapner added 16, and Ryan Roth chipped in with 10.

ST. JOHN’S 70, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 30

Houston King scored 12 of his 16 points in the initial quarter to lead the home rout. Vincent Williams, Jr., had 20 and Payton Moyer 10 for the Titans (10-2, 6-1 TRAC)

The Irish (4-8, 2-5) were led by DJ Triplett with 11.

ST. FRANCIS 89, FREMONT ROSS 38 

FREMONT — Kenny Coleman-Graham scored 17 points, John Burnham 15, and Drew Swerlein 12 for the visiting Knights (12-1, 6-1 TRAC).

Keyon Sewell led the Little Giants (3-10, 1-6) with eight.

LIMA SENIOR 78, CLAY 68

Dustin Aiton scored 16 points, Keshawn Clark 15, and Jacob Novak 10 for the Eagles in a defeat in a TRAC game.

Javier Quinnenos scored 22 points and Jarius Ward added 19 for Lima Senior (6-5, 4-3) against Clay (1-12, 0-7).

BOWSHER 79, WOODWARD 72

Woodward led by nine with 3:30 left, but Dalonte Brown scored 15 of his 34 points in the fourth for Bowsher.

Darryl Robinson tallied 20 points for the Rebels, while L.J. Rayford added 13.

Charles Robinson III poured in 34 points for Woodward, while Gnonn Caraway had 15.

ROGERS 69, START 52

Taquarius Belcher delivered a team-high 21 points and Christian Smith added 19 for the Rams in the City League.

Dru Pettigrew added 14 points Rogers (8-3, 4-1 CL).

Tyrik Barbine and Chris Reed led the Spartans (9-4, 3-2) with 10 points each. 

WAITE 46, SCOTT 31

Elmajzoub Mohammed scored 13 points and Carl Banks offered 13 for the Indians (8-6, 1-4) in a City League clash with Scott (1-11, 0-5).

ANTHONY WAYNE 58, SPRINGFIELD 47

Braden Womack led Anthony Wayne with 16 points as the Generals won on the road.

Andrew Murphy and Tory Schalitz added 13 points each for Anthony Wayne.

Cameron Arce tallied 18 points to pace Springfield.

PERRYSBURG 79, MAUMEE 34

Matt Gruden scored 28 points and Drew Sims 12 as the Yellow Jackets had 10 players score in their home win.

Blake Hazard led Maumee with 11 points.

LAKE 63, WOODMORE 61

MILLBURY — Zack Ellison scored 18 points to help lift the Flyers in a Northern Buckeye Conference showdown.

Jordan Bekier scored 14 for Lake (5-10, 2-6 NBC). 

Mitchell Miller and Mikey Blausey scored 15 points apiece and JT Atkin added 14 for Woodmore (5-9, 3-5).

EASTWOOD 62, ELMWOOD 54

BLOOMDALE — Cade Boos scored 17 points to lead Eastwood to a road win.

Grant Hirzel added 13 for the Eagles (11-2, 7-1 NBC) and Ryan Reiter added 12.

Tayte Lentz and Nate Uzelac paced Elmwood (9-4, 4-4) with 15 points each, while Andy Curtis scored 12.

GENOA 55, OTSEGO 30

TONTOGANY — Jacob Plantz scored 18, Drew Bench added 13, and Matt Bradfield 12 as the Comets (10-3, 6-2 NBC) won on the road.

Parker Vollmar led the Knights (7-6, 3-5) with eight.

ROSSFORD 61, FOSTORIA 49

Connor Bihn scored 12 points and Cota Sinclair added 11 as Rossford won at home.

Aneas Cousin paced Fostoria with 14 points and Gabe Turner chipped in with 11.

MAUMEE VALLEY 61, GIBSONBURG 53

Maumee Valley used a 17-11 edge in the fourth in its home Toledo Area Athletic Conference win. Jaiden Woodley and Caleb Kynard paced the Hawks (9-5, 5-3) with 16 points each. Zeb Jackson added 15.

Addison Weaver led Gibsonburg (5-7, 4-4) with 14 points and Josh Ernsthausen had 13.

OTTAWA HILLS 57, DANBURY 42

Hunter Sieben and Brett Hoffman scored 16 points each and Peter Roman added 10 to lead the Green Bears.

Grady Mark and Brad Pruitt tallied 11 each for Danbury.

NORTHWOOD 41, EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 38

Evan LaPlante scored 11 points to lead the Rangers. Gabe LaPlante added eight for Northwood (1-12, 1-5).

Caden Williams led EC (2-9, 1-5) with 15 points while Gunnar Parmelee added 12. 

BEDFORD 78, ANN ARBOR SKYLINE 77

TEMPERANCE — The Kicking Mules overcame a 16-point deficit to hand Skyline its first loss in Southeastern Conference play this season.

Carson Barr led five Mules (7-3, 2-3) in double figures by scoring 20 points. Joey Wiemer finished with 16, Ben German 14, Max Birmingham 13, and Zach Lewandowski 10.

Brandon Wade paced Skyline (7-4, 4-1) with 31 points. 

LIBERTY CENTER 64, EVERGREEN 61

METAMORA — Blake Garber had a three-point play with 18.5 seconds left to give the Tigers (3-7, 2-0 NWOAL) the victory. He scored 20 points, Christian Chambers added 11, and Zach Carpenter 10.

The Vikings (7-7, 0-2) were paced by Chandler Lumbrezer with 21 and Mason Loeffler with 16.

PATRICK HENRY 48, DELTA 40

HAMLER — Alex VanDeBussche poured in 20 points to lead Patrick Henry to a home win. Giorgio Festinoni paced Delta with 18 points.

PERKINS 55, PORT CLINTON 33

PORT CLINTON — Jake Wagner and Jacob Voight scored 15 points as Perkins (10-3) cruised to a road win.

Joey Brenner paced Port Clinton (1-12) with eight.

CLYDE 54, OAK HARBOR 52

CLYDE — Tanner Davenport scored 18 points and Jaylan Johnson 10 for Clyde.

Tate Smith led the Rockets with 12 points. Isiah Jefferson added 11 and Clay Schulte 10.
