24-year-old comes over in trade for future considerations

Walleye acquire forward J.P. LaFontaine

The Walleye acquired forward J.P. LaFontaine in a trade with Elmira on Tuesday.

LaFontaine, a 24-year-old, was acquired for future considerations. The native of Oxford, Mich. has played in 13 games for the Jackals and had five points (goal, 4 assists).

LaFontaine signed with Toledo before the 2015-16 season. He played in one game for the Walleye before he was traded to Allen of the ECHL. Last season, LaFontaine had 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) in 60 games for Allen as a rookie.

LaFontaine is the nephew of former NHL forward Pat LaFontaine and spent four years at Minnesota State University.

The Walleye play at Wheeling today.
