Boys roundup: Witcher, Whitmer top Northview

WHITMER 59, NORTHVIEW 47

Nick Witcher pumped in 10 of his game-high 21 points during the fourth quarter as the Panthers (4-2) claimed the win in a boys basketball game Tuesday.

Avion Franklin chipped in 13 points and Derrick Rayford scored 12 and dished out seven assists for Whitmer.

Logan Jessing scored 20 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, for the Wildcats (4-2).

ST. JOHN’S 67, NOVI 39

DETROIT — The Titans made six 3-pointers in the third quarter in breaking open a tight game that was part of the Motor City Roundball Classic.

Vincent Williams, Jr., and Joey Fretti paced St. John’s (6-2) with 14 points. Houston King had 12 and Harrison Riggs finished with 10.

Jiovanni Miles had 11 and Trabeon Maddox 10 for Novi (3-4).

WOODMORE 60, LAKOTA 25

ELMORE — Mitchell Miller made three 3’s and finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Wildcats (3-5) past the Raiders (3-5) in nonleague action.

Woodmore, which also got nine points from Derek Wank, led 10-0 after one quarter and never looked back. 

LAKE 63, NORTHWOOD 31

The Flyers rolled to a 17-4 first-quarter lead, then finished with a 23-2 fourth quarter to claim the home nonleague win.

Mikey Symanski, Jarrod Hornyak and Julio Mata each scored 11 points to lead Lake (3-4).

Evan LaPlante finished with 13 points to lead Northwood (0-7).

ELMWOOD 71, LIBERTY CENTER 52

The Royals outscored the Tigers 25-13 in the second quarter of a road non-league win.

Tayte Lentz led four players in double figures with 19 points for Elmwood (6-2). Nate Vzelac had 14, Jonah Childress added 13 and Matthew Cline 12.

Zack Carpenter paced Liberty Center (1-3) with 13 points, and Blake Graber had 10.

CLEVELAND CC 71, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 42

Cleveland Central Catholic had five players finish in double figures in the easy road win.

Tyler Golphin, Dion Ivory, Alex Heath and Jerry Coleman each scored 11 points for the Ironmen, while Dyshawn Jackson added 10.

D.J. Triplett finished with 10 points for Central (2-2).

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 68, ARCHBOLD 60

OTTAWA-GLANDORF — Bryce Schroeder and Jake Dible scored 18 points each for the win.

Schroeder sank five 3-pointers in the first half.

Bryce Williams led the Blue Streaks with 18 points and Kaiden Bedsole added 12.
