Rockets down Ball State 37-19 in the fog

The University of Toledo football team topped Ball State 37-19 tonight at a foggy Glass Bowl tonight.

Junior Logan Woodside was 25-of-39 passing for 325 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception.

Senior Kareem Hunt rushed for 107 yards and also caught six passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, the Rockets move to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the Mid-American Conference and remain one game behind unbeaten Western Michigan in the loss column.

If the Rockets win at Western Michigan on Nov. 25, they would win the MAC West and go to the MAC championship game.

Ball State's Riley Neal threw a TD pass to Damon Hazleton for 11 yards for the only score of the fourth quarter. After a 2-point conversion failed, Toledo led 37-19 with 3:46 remaining.

On the first possession of the second half, UT quarterback Logan Woodside hit Kareem Hunt on a 71-yard TD pass. Hunt took the swing pass and raced down the sideline to give Toledo a 27-10 lead with 14:14 left in the third quarter.

Jameson Vest then kicked a career-long 49-yard field goal to give Toledo a 30-10 lead with 7:59 left in the third quarter.

Ball State’s Morgan Hagee kicked a 37-yard field goal to cut the Toledo lead to 30-13 with 3:13 to play in the third quarter.

On the next possession, Woodside threw a 42-yard TD strike to Cody Thompson and Toledo extended its lead to 37-13 with 2:28 left in the third quarter.

Jameson Vest kicked a 37-yard field goal to open the second quarter after Toledo recovered a Ball State fumble. That gave the Rockets a 17-0 lead.

Ball State got its first points of the game when quarterback Riley Neal found Corey Lacanaria on a 10-yard touchdown pass, cutting Toledo’s lead to 17-7 with 10;40 left in the first half.

Morgan Hagee added a 24-yard field goal for Ball State and the Cardinals cut the UT lead to 17-10 with 5:05 left in the second quarter.

Vest kicked another 37-yard field for Toledo as time expired in the half to make it 20-10.


The University of Toledo football team is leading Ball State 14-0 after the first quarter at the Glass Bowl.

Toledo got on the board first with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Logan Woodside to Jon’Vea Johnson with 8:19 to go in the opening quarter.

Senior Corey Jones then returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown and gave Toledo a 14-0 lead with 1:47 left in the first quarter.
