Bowling Green State University Falcons and the Toledo Rockets have been selected to win their divisions in the Mid-American Conference in a preseason poll. BLADE
DETROIT — The University of Toledo football was picked to win the Mid-American Conference's West Division title, while Bowling Green was picked to win the East.
The Falcons also were the consensus pick to win the MAC Championship game, according to a poll of the league's media.
The Rockets received 11 first-place votes and 114 points to narrowly edge Northern Illinois, which got eight first-place votes and 110 points. Ball State was third in the poll, followed by Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
Bowling Green received 18 first-place votes and 144 points to outdistance Akron (three and 114), Ohio, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami and UMass.
