MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — University of Toledo men’s golf coach Jamie Broce holds a three-stroke lead following the third round at the 47th PGA Professional National Championship at Grande Dunes Resort Club.
Broce, 37, shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday to stand at 5-under 211 after shooting a 68 in the first round and 72 in the second. Michael Block of Aliso Viejo, Calif., is second place at 214.
The low 20 scorers will advance to the 96th PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.
Broce, who has guided the Rockets to second-place showings at the MAC championships in each of his two seasons at UT, registered birdies on the sixth, eighth, and 13th holes and posted bogeys on the fifth and 14th holes.
