BOWLING GREEN — Central Catholic senior Dugan Delp is heading back to the Division I state tennis tournament.
Delp knocked off Findlay junior Reid Teatsorth 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 to capture the district singles title Saturday at Bowling Green State University’s Keefe Courts.
Delp beat Adam Zychowicz of St. John’s 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.
In Division I doubles, the St. John’s duo of senior Kevin Brown and junior Ryan Brown won their second consecutive district doubles crown with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over teammates Jonah Carter and Rajeev Laungani. The Browns advanced to the final after a 6-1, 7-6 win over Southview’s Matthew Rothchild and Jason Bigler.
Carter and Laungani won their semifinal match 6-2, 6-0 over Ashland’s Zack Sprunger and Zac Ames.
The only local qualifiers from Division II were sophomore Ryan Simon and junior Matt Gargas of Ottawa Hills, who fell 6-1, 6-4 in the doubles championship to the Lexington team of Matt Youse and Tommy Barkett.
The Green Bears duo reached the final with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Celina‘s Isaac Elston and Kris LeJune.
Lexington junior Mason Dragos captured the singles title with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lima Central Catholic’s Pierre Desprat.
