Mud Hens fall 2-1 to Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Toledo starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein was exceptional in his Sunday afternoon start at Rochester. But, the lefty’s start was not good enough in a 2-1 loss to the Red Wings at Frontier Field.

It was Toledo’s third loss in a row. The Wings have won six straight games, and nine straight at home.

Lobstein pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits while striking out six. But Rochester's Oswaldo Arcia broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with a solo home run for the game-winning run.

Outfielder Ezequiel Carrera scored Toledo's lone run in the first inning on a single from Tyler Collins.

The Red Wings (22-20) worked quickly to tie the score. James Beresford stroked a one-out single, and came home on an RBI double by Arcia.

The Hens threatened again in the top of the second inning with a lead-off double by Wade Gaynor. Rochester’s Kris Johnson was able to work out of the inning, striking out the next two batters and getting Brandon Douglas to fly out.

In the sixth, Johnson walked Mike Hessman, who stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch with two outs.

Johnson again worked out of trouble getting Gaynor to strike out.

With two outs in the ninth, Ben Guez tripled to put the tying run at third base.

Ryan Pressly struck out Troy Hanzawa to end the threat and the game.

Lobstein is 3-4 on the season for Toledo (19-25) after winning his three previous starts. He has lowered his ERA from 7.84 to 4.08 over his last four outings.

Johnson (3-2) gave up four hits, no earned runs, walked two batters, and struck out seven.
