The Mud Hens closed their homestand with a 9-3 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs today at Fifth Third Field.
Derek Hankins followed the first shutout of his career last week with his briefest start of the season. After retiring the first two hitters, he allowed four straight hits — including a two-run homer to Jhonatan Solano that lasered off the scoreboard in left field. He gave up five runs over 3 1/3 innings.
The Hens finished the homestand at 6-2 and lost for just the third time in their last 11 games.
