Mud Hens lose 6-4 in Columbus

COLUMBUS — The Mud Hens' three-game winning streak came to an end Monday night with a 6-4 loss to Columbus.

The game was tied at 4 in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Clippers scored twice.

Toledo left fielder Tyler Collins connected on a three-run home run in the third inning and first baseman Jordan Lennerton added a solo homer in the fourth.

Toledo starter Kyle Lobstein gave up three earned runs on seven hits over five innings. Jose Ortega allowed two earned runs on two hits in the eighth, his only inning of work.

The Mud Hens (7-11) had swept a doubleheader on Saturday from the Clippers.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Mud Hens scored three runs in the third inning.

With two outs, Collins hit a home run. Eziquiel Carrera and Hernan Perez, who both had walked, scored on Collins' second of the season.

After Columbus tied it at 3, Lennerton drove his first home run of the season over the left-field fence. The Clippers knotted it again at 4 in the sixth inning. Columbus then took the lead for good on Matt Carson's RBI single in the eighth inning.

Lobstein also struck out four batters before Casey Crosby took over in the sixth and allowed two hits and one earned run in two innings.

Collins finished 3 for 4 at the plate.

NOTE: Mud Hens outfielder J.D. Martinez was named International League player of the week. He hit .318 with six home runs and nine RBIs in seven games. He was promoted Monday to Detroit.
