WHEELING, W. Va. — Two third-period goals in the middle of the frame sunk the Toledo Walleye on Friday night in a 5-3 loss to host Wheeling.
Toledo (19-39-5) tied the game 24 seconds into the final period on a goal from Travis Novak, but Wheeling (34-25-6) struck back about eight minutes later with a goal from Tyler Fernandez, followed by a goal by Max MacKay three minutes later.
Hannu Toivonen had 28 saves in the loss.
The Walleye have lost six of their last seven contests.
