ADA, Ohio — Lima Central Catholic got off to a quick start and held on to defeat Liberty-Benton 56-48 in a Division III district boys basketball final at Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
Martyce Kimbrough and Tre Cobbs led the Thunderbirds with 14 points each.
Xavier Simpson had 12 points and 10 assists for Lima Central Catholic (20-4).
Liberty-Benton’s Adam Cytlak had a game-high 17 points while teammate Ryan Geise had 16 points.
Liberty-Benton (19-4) was 42.9 percent from the floor (15 of 32), 35.7 percent from beyond the arc (5 of 14), and 81.3 percent from the free throw line (13 of 16).
Lima Central Catholic finished shooting 48.7 percent from the floor (19 of 39), 36.4 percent from 3-point range (4 of 11), and 63.6 percent from the free throw line (14 of 22).
The Thunderbirds will play Worthington Christian on Wednesday in a regional semifinal at Bowling Green State University.
