CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Kamilah Carter and Eboni Adams scored 13 points each to lead Owens Communtiy College women’s basketball team to a 81-46 rout Friday of Edison CC in a NJCAA Region XII District I semifinal.
Paige Wright had 11 points and Maura Hackney added 10 for the Express (26-2). Kheri Motley scored nine and had a team-high eight rebounds.
Owens led 32-23 at half but outscored Edison 49-23 in the second half. The Express shot 45 percent (34 of 75) from the floor and held Edison (17-8) to 26 percent (15 of 58).
Owens plays at 2 p.m. today in the district final against Cincinnati State, which beat Columbus State 80-75.
The winner advances to the national tournament.
Owens CC 104, Sinclair CC 90
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Express overcame an early nine point deficit to defeat Sinclair CC in an NJCAA Region XII District 11 semifinal on Friday.
Sinclair took a 20-11 lead seven minutes into the game, but the Express rallied back to take a 49-40 lead into halftime.
Owens saw its lead whittled to as few as three, 56-53, in the second half, but Owens gradually extended its lead. The Express led by as many as 20 at one point before setting into the final score.
John Murry led Owens (25-5) with 30 points. Shaakir Lindsey and Bikramjit Gill each had 23 for the Express with Gill adding 18 rebounds.
Owens will play top-ranked Cincinnati State at 5:30 p.m. today.
