Bowsher’s offensivie depth too much for Southview

Nate Allen scored the Rebels’ first 16 points of their 76-70 win over Southview, then got help from one of his many co-stars as the City League champions withstood a late fight. After Allen had 23 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, Aundre Kizer scored 17 of his 20 in the second — the faucet continuing to gush from a Bowsher team with four players averaging at least 15.6 points per game. Toledo Christian, Ottawa Hills advance

The Eagles (15-8) trailed by six points at the half but outscored the Golden Bears 30-20 in the second half and went on to down the Golden Bears 42-38 at Eastwood. In the first sectional final, Ottawa Hills jumped out to a 15-0 lead over Cardinal Stritch and went on to post a 53-36 win Toledo Christian junior Kyle Kempton scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the pivotal third quarter.

Perrysburg boys advance on strong finish

The Yellow Jackets seized the moment twice and claimed a 53-41 victory over their Northern Lakes League rivals. Perrysburg scored five points in the final minute of the third quarter, then five more in the first minute of the final period to build a 13-point cushion. Then the Yellow Jackets used an 11-3 finish to claim the win and advance to the District semifinals, where they will face Findlay at Otsego High School at 7 p.m. Thursday.


Bedford girls get postseason win

Kendall Anderson scored 19 points, Nicole Rightnowar added 14, and the Kicking Mules won a Class A girls basketball district final Friday night.

Undefeated Blissfield girls roll to district crown

Even though she scored a game-high 28 points, Claire Denecker admitted she couldn’t take all of the credit for herself. Minutes after the Blissfield defeated Britton-Deerfield 51-34 Friday night in a Class C district girls basketball final, Denecker pointed out her team’s top attributes: Defense, defense and defense.
