Michigan announces $10M gift to its athletic deparment

Alumnus and his family give back to alma mater.

ANN ARBOR -- Michigan announced today that a gift of $10 million has been given to the athletic department to endow the athletic department and the football program.

Notably, the head football coaching position - currently held by Brady Hoke - will now be formally known as the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach.

J. Ira Harris, a 1959 Michigan graduate who lives in Palm Beach, Fla., is the chair of the financial consulting firm, J.I. Harris & Associates. Nicki Harris attended the University of Colorado and is the president of several family foundations. She also serves on the board of numerous art organizations, foundations and educational institutions.
